In the first four months of the current fiscal year, pickles worth Rs 66.8 million have been exported. In the same period last fiscal year, pickles worth Rs 87.1 million 75 thousand were exported.
According to the Customs Department, Nepal has exported 111,319 kg of pickles to various countries. Pickles have been exported to South Korea, Australia, Canada, America, Italy, Japan, Britain, Belgium, Denmark and Malaysia.
The highest amount of pickles worth 12.536 million rupees was exported to South Korea, and 11.319 million rupees was exported to Australia. The lowest amount of pickles worth 355,000 rupees was exported to Malaysia, while 488,000 rupees was exported to Denmark.
Last year, Nepal exported pickles to Australia, America, Italy, Japan, Canada, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Korea and Malaysia. The highest amount of pickles worth 344,000 rupees was exported to Australia and the lowest amount of pickles worth 556,000 rupees was exported to Malaysia. The department has stated that pickles worth 182,646 million rupees were exported in the last fiscal year.
The Customs Department has started keeping records of pickle import and export only from the fiscal year 2077/078. That year, pickles worth 39.22 million rupees were exported. Pickle production in Nepal has increased significantly after the Corona pandemic. Various brands of pickles produced domestically are becoming popular, especially among Nepalis living in third countries. Due to this, the demand for Nepali pickles has increased abroad.
