The Nagdhunga-Naubise Malekhu road section will be closed for 5 hours daily from next Wednesday. The road section is being partially closed as it needs to be blacktopped and upgraded.
The Road Department has given high priority to the blacktop work of the Nagdhunga-Piplamod section of the road within Kathmandu district. Therefore, since the section is narrower than elsewhere and requires the mobilization of many heavy equipment and transportation vehicles at once, the work is being done by stopping traffic for some time, said Keshav Prasad Ojha, head of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project Eastern Section.
According to him, since the road needs to be widened in the narrow and risky Pokharevhir area of the Galchhi-Gajuri section of Dhading, traffic movement on the road from Nagdhunga to Piplamod and in the Pokharevhir area is being stopped from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm from Mangsir 24 (Wednesday) to Poush 1. The project office has also requested passengers and drivers to use alternative road routes during the said time period.
It has been stated that the traffic police will facilitate the movement of vehicles such as ambulances, security vehicles, fire engines, and hearses of an essential nature. Vehicles going from Kathmandu to Naubise will be stopped at Nagdhunga Check Post, and vehicles coming from Muglin to Kathmandu will be stopped at Khanikhola, Naubise, Jangekhola, and Thakre. Vehicles going from Naubise to Muglin will be stopped at Galchhi, Baireni, and Mastar. The office has announced that vehicles coming from Muglin to Naubise will be stopped at Malekhu.
During this period, small and medium vehicles can use the Sitapaila-Ramkot-Bhimdhunga Dharke road, Samakhusi-Tokha-Chhahare-Trishuli (Bidur)-Galchhi road, and the Trishuli Bridge at Jarekhet via the Trishuli Bridge at Ghatbesi as an alternative route, according to the traffic police.
