Bardaghat Municipality in West Nawalparasi has collected more revenue than the target for two consecutive fiscal years.
In the fiscal year 2080/81, against a target of Rs 60 million, Rs 79.81 million revenue was collected. In the fiscal year 2081/82, against a target of Rs 80 million, Rs 81.37 million was collected. The municipality aims to collect Rs 100 million in internal revenue this year, as it has been increasing every year. As of Mangsir 13 of the current fiscal year, Rs 35.936 million revenue has been collected, said Sharada GC, Assistant Administrative Officer of the branch. The municipality has been conducting various programs including business registration campaigns to increase revenue. In the last fiscal year, Rs 15.839 million was collected from house map passes alone. The GC says that revenue is increasing after raising awareness about the provisions of registering unregistered businesses and mandatory map approval for construction of houses and buildings. Revenue collection has been affected due to house rental tax, failure to implement river contracts, revenue leakage from illegal export of river products, and failure to deposit 10 percent of the amount coming from small business owners and community forests.
