Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Bishwanath Poudel has said that banks should review their loan packages. Speaking at the 29th annual general meeting of the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJN) on Monday, Governor Poudel said that questions have been raised about bank loans from various sectors and now it is time for banks to review such packages.
Governor Poudel said that bank CEOs should design such packages after discussing with industrialists and businessmen.
‘The bank’s financial products do not seem to be coming up with new ones in line with the monetary policy. Some farmers, including those in the tourism sector, and entrepreneurs are also saying that the way loan products are being designed is not tailored to their needs.’
Governor Poudel said that he will also discuss this issue with bank CEOs next week. Poudel said that the discussion will review how effective the banks’ products are currently.
