Sixteen people have applied for the post of General Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation. Pilots, engineers, managers, and others have submitted their applications to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

According to the ministry, the applicants include pilots Dipuraj Juarchan, Ved Prakash Upreti, aeronautical engineers Deepak Prasad Bastola, and Abhinav Karki. Similarly, ATC Satya Kumar Basnet and Sanjay Kumar, both working at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, have also applied for the post of General Manager. Applications have also been received from outside the corporation and the authority by Bhim Bahadur Chand, Bishnu Babu Mishra, Chiranjeevi Upadhyay, Upendra Bahadur Karki, Prakash Chandra Adhikari, Yograj Kandel, Ashish Thapa, Radhunath Bidari, Tankanidhi Dahal, and Suman Bhattarai.

In Jestha 2079, after the then Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Prem Ale dismissed General Manager Dim Prasad Poudel (Prakash), the corporation's management operations were started by Executive Chairman Yubaraj Adhikari. Poudel was appointed as the General Manager by the then Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai in 2077 Asoj. With his removal, the post of General Manager of the Corporation had been vacant for 3 and a half years. The term of Executive Chairman Adhikari, who was appointed to oversee the board of directors and daily management, ended on Kartik 27.

After Prime Minister Sushila Karki formed a General Manager selection committee led by the Tourism Secretary, the ministry issued a 15-day notice on Kartik 27 to apply for the post of General Manager. The application period ended on Thursday.

From among them, the government will appoint the General Manager of the Corporation for a period of four years. Acting Prime Minister Karki has appointed Bikram Rai, Vice Chairman of the Corporation's Board of Directors, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Amritman Shrestha, a member of the Board of Directors, as the General Manager. The newly appointed Shrestha is the 44th General Manager of the Corporation until further notice.
