The capacity utilization of industries operating in the Far Western Province has decreased in the fiscal year 2081/082. According to the Economic Activity Study of the Nepal Rastra Bank, the average capacity utilization of industries in that province during that period was 34.47 percent. This is a decrease compared to the previous year.
According to the study, the maximum capacity utilization of concrete, wheat flour, and rice industries in this province was observed in the fiscal year 2081/82. However, capacity utilization of industries producing rosin, sugar, and soap is low.
The rosin producing industry has stated that production has been low due to shortage of workers, difficulty in collecting raw materials, and the industry not being fully operational.
Due to the recent slackness in the market, the aggregate demand for credit has decreased and additional investment has not been made, which has led to a decrease in both industrial capacity and production. The industries covered in the study directly employ 1,477 people. Of these, 344 are Indian citizens. Of the employment provided by the industry, 90.99 percent are men and 9.01 percent are women.
The decline in aggregate demand during that period has led to a decrease in the production of all industries. Accordingly, the production of wheat flour has decreased by 65.09, sugar by 60.22, bricks by 42.86, soap by 23.82, rice by 15.25, rosin by 6.86, concrete by 6.59 and mustard oil by 4.35 percent.
According to the Economic Survey of Sudurpaschim Province 2081/82, 1,631 new industries have been registered in this province by Chaitra of the fiscal year 2081/82.
