The Nepal Pilots Association and MentorLab Nepal have signed an agreement to improve aviation communication and safety in Nepal. Under the collaboration, pilots, air traffic controllers, and other aviation professionals will be provided with the International Civil Aviation Organization's Aviation Language Proficiency Test and specialized English training.
The initiative aims to bring Nepal's aviation communication system in line with international standards. It is believed to bring excellence in aviation safety and operations by ensuring effective, accurate and standardized communication between pilots and air traffic controllers.
The Aviation Language Proficiency Test assesses six key language skills: pronunciation, grammatical structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interaction. It is mandatory for pilots and air traffic controllers to achieve at least level 4 proficiency as per international standards.
