A government report has shown that overall agricultural crop production in Bagmati Province increased by 0.8 percent in the fiscal year 2081/82. The previous year, production had increased by 0.6 percent.

The economic activity study of Bagmati Province, made public by the National Bank, has shown that the production of food and other crops among the total agricultural crops decreased by 6.5 percent in the last fiscal year. The previous year, such production had increased by 4.5 percent.

During the review period, millet production increased by 5.2 percent. In the same period, paddy production decreased by 1.1, maize production by 5, sorghum production by 5.1, wheat production by 18.5, and barley production by 32.6 percent. Last year, wheat production increased by 0.6, paddy production by 0.8, and barley production by 5.5 percent. 

During that period, maize production decreased by 0.3, millet production by 3.1, and sorghum production by 8.7 percent. The report shows that potato production decreased by 8.3, soybean production by 12.3, oilseed crop production by 21.0, and pulse crop production by 27.2 percent in the last fiscal year. 

Last year, potato production increased by 13.3, and oilseed crop production by 24.5 percent. During that period, the production of pulses and soybeans decreased by 11.4 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively.

In the fiscal year 2081/82, the share of potato production in the production of food and other crops in this province was 34.0 percent, corn production was 30.2 percent, and rice production was 22.9 percent. The report points out that the share of food and other crops in the total agricultural production of this province was 61.1 percent in the review year.
