The government has amended the Land Use Regulations, 2082 for the third time and the land allotment has been opened. The Cabinet meeting held on Monday approved the third amended regulations and the land allotment has been opened.

Land use classification was stopped in 500 municipalities across the country since last Shrawan due to the municipalities not classifying their land within the time frame given by the government.

Three years after the issuance of the Land Use Regulations, only 253 out of 753 municipalities in the country have completely classified their land. The Department of Land Management and Records has stated that land classification has been stopped since Shrawan as the remaining 500 municipalities have not completely classified their land.

The government has amended the Land Use Regulations, 2079 for the third time. Land administration work, including land classification, had been stopped in 620 municipalities since the beginning of Bhadra 2081. At that time, only 133 municipalities had completely classified their land. Immediately after the Land Use Regulations, 2079 were amended for the second time on Bhadra 27, 2081, the municipalities were given time until Asar 2082 to classify their land.

After land classification was stopped, the ministry amended the regulations for the second time. When the regulations were issued in Jestha 2079, four forts had to be opened and agricultural areas had to be designated within 6 months. Until Mangsir 2079, only a few municipalities had allocated agricultural areas.

After Mangsir 2079, land had to be classified into all 10 areas. However, after most municipalities did not classify the land, the regulations were amended on Shrawan 32, 2080, and a provision was made to open four forts and designate agricultural areas within a year.
