The Food Management and Trading Company Limited has fixed the price for purchasing rice from farmers in Banke.
The meeting of the Primary Procurement Committee chaired by Chief District Officer Dil Bahadur Tamang has fixed the price of coarse paddy at Rs 3,463.81 per quintal and medium paddy at Rs 3,628.33 per quintal. In the meeting, Chief District Officer Tamang has directed to start purchasing paddy quickly, saying that farmers are selling paddy at a price lower than the government price in the market.
Ram Sharan Lamichhane, the head of the Food Management and Trading Company Limited, informed that even though the price determination work has been done, the purchase of paddy from farmers will start only from Sunday. Office head Lamichhane said, 'We will purchase paddy from farmers after completing other technical work including warehouse management.'
It has been decided to purchase 15,000 quintals of coarse paddy and 5,000 quintals of medium paddy from farmers in Banke this year.
