The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, a gauge of share trading, rose by 30.75 points. The NEPSE rose by 1.18 percent compared to the previous trading day to reach 2,631.14 points on Sunday. The NEPSE had risen by 34.22 points last Thursday.
Among the companies that traded on Sunday, the share price of 205 companies increased, 42 companies decreased and the price of 3 companies remained stable. A total of 68,112 shares were traded, worth Rs 9.20 billion 31 million. 29,738,139 shares were traded on this day.
Out of the total 13 subgroups, all subgroups except trade increased on Sunday. All subgroups including life insurance, non-life insurance, production and processing, and hydropower increased. Life insurance increased by 556.86, non-life insurance by 145.74, and finance by 116.36 points, according to NEPS. The trade subgroup decreased by 42.58 points.
The circuit break occurred after the share prices of Community Microfinance, Gurkhaj Finance, Panchakanyamai Hydropower, People's Power Limited, and Tehrathum Power Company increased by 10 percent. Khanikhola Hydropower's share price fell by 4.76 percent, NIC Asia Flexi Cap Fund's by 4.02 percent, Prabhu Bank Debentures (2086) by 3.94 percent, Himalaya Power Partner's by 3.73 percent and Shangrila Development Bank Debentures (2087) by 3.68 percent. Based on the trading amount, Himalaya Bank (Promoter), Union Hydropower, Butwal Power Company, Radhi Vidyut Company and NRN Infrastructure and Development were ahead.
On Sunday, shares worth Rs 1.66 billion 50 million were traded in Himalaya Bank (Promoter), Rs 343 million in Union Hydropower, Rs 254 million 48 million in Butwal Power Company, Rs 245 million 50 million in Radhi Vidyut Company and NRN Infrastructure and Development.
With the NEPSE increasing by 30.75 points in a single day, the size of the stock market (total market capitalization) increased by Rs 51.41 billion 100 million. The total market capitalization, which was 4.347 billion 160 million rupees last Thursday, has been increased to 4.398 billion 570 million rupees on Sunday.
