Electric cars, jeeps and vans worth Rs 6.25 billion and 5.05 billion have been imported in the first three months of the current fiscal year. According to the Customs Department, electric vehicles worth Rs 6.10 billion and 7.7 billion were imported in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The department has data showing that 104 more units of electric vehicles were imported in the same period of the current fiscal year compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. The department has stated that 2,620 units of electric vehicles were imported in the three months of the current fiscal year. 2,516 units of electric vehicles were imported in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
According to the department, in the three months of the previous fiscal year, 772 units of vehicles up to 50 kW worth Rs 1.39 billion and 1.9 billion were imported, while in the same period of the current fiscal year, 751 units worth Rs 1.26 billion and 6.7 billion were imported.
In the three months of the previous year, 1,582 units worth Rs 4.16 billion and 3.4 billion were imported, while in the same period of the current fiscal year, 1,545 units worth Rs 4.2 billion and 1.9 billion were imported.
According to the department, while 159 units of vehicles up to 200 kilowatts worth Rs 533.8 million were imported in the first three months of the last fiscal year, 323 units worth Rs 957 million were imported in the same period of the current fiscal year.
