The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry has urged the government to investigate and take action against those involved in looting, vandalism, and arson against industries, businesses, and private property during the Gen-G movement and to ensure security.

The federation has drawn the government's serious attention to the complaints received from members that no complaints have been filed against those involved in the incident, stating that this will lead to impunity in society and discourage businessmen.

The federation has stated that the incident has not only weakened the morale of the private sector but also has a negative impact on economic activities. 'Information is being received from member businesses that complaints have not been filed against the perpetrators of the incident and there has been apathy in taking action, and if this situation continues, it seems that impunity will increase and will pose a serious challenge to the investment environment,' the federation said in a statement. 'This will have a long-term impact on job creation, revenue collection, investment promotion and the overall economy.'

The federation has also requested the participation of the chairmen and representatives of the respective district-city industry and commerce associations to ensure the federation's representation in the central and district-level security committees to ensure the security of the private sector.

The federation has also stated that it has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs with a formal request. The Federation has requested its and its member associations to participate in the committee to ensure direct participation of the business community in government-private sector coordination at all levels and mainly in district-level security planning, risk assessment and emergency decision-making processes.

In a discussion involving the Federation's office bearers, standing committees and committee/forum chairmen on Sunday, the Federation's acting president Anjan Shrestha said that peace and security are indispensable conditions for businessmen as there is no stability without peace and security, without stability, enterprises and businesses cannot be operated and serious problems arise in the economy if enterprises and businesses are not operated.

He said that impunity should be ended and it should be ensured that there are no attacks on entrepreneurs and businessmen in the future. He said that the culprits should be investigated and action should be taken to prevent further confusion and uncertainty in the society and to end impunity.

The outgoing president of the Federation, Shekhar Golchha, said that the private sector expects the government to be proactive in advancing the country's economic activities sustainably, making the investment environment reliable and creating a situation where the private sector can operate confidently. He said that in the current situation, the government's attention needs to be focused on maintaining peace and security, leading towards stability, and boosting the morale of industrialists and businessmen.
