According to the Executive Chairman of the Corporation, Yubaraj Adhikari, Guangzhou has become the 11th destination in China for Nepal Airlines Corporation. He said that this route has great market potential as it attracts students, businessmen and tourists.
Currently, China Southern Airlines is operating regular flights on this route. The Corporation expects that after the flight is launched, competition in this sector will increase and more options will be available to passengers.
The Guangzhou flight is another international destination added under the leadership of Executive Chairman Adhikari after the previously launched flight to Dammam in Saudi Arabia. He said that during his tenure, the Corporation has taken forward a flight expansion campaign with the aim of adding new international destinations, reactivating old routes and restoring its professional image.
Chairman Adhikari, who has reached the end of his four-year term, is going to leave the Corporation in the next seven days. During his tenure, the Corporation had continuously tried to strengthen its presence in the international market by adding new destinations. In which he has been partially successful.
Nepal Airlines Corporation was established in 2015. In the beginning, the Corporation had only one Douglas DC-3 aircraft. After that, the corporation gradually started international flights and flew to destinations including Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Qatar, Dubai, Japan, and India.
Currently, the corporation has Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft operating for international routes, while two Twin Otter aircraft are serving remote areas within the country for domestic flights.
After the Guangzhou flight was launched, the corporation has adopted a strategy to attract Chinese tourists, students, and businessmen. The corporation believes that this will help expand tourism, trade, and people-to-people contacts between Nepal and South China. “The initial feedback has been very positive,” said corporation spokesperson Manoj Kumar Sah, adding, “We will continue to strengthen Nepal’s air presence in China.”
