Banks and financial institutions will be allowed to include the amount spent on the treatment of injured gen-jis during the protest on August 23 and the demonstration on August 24 under the heading of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The National Bank has made this provision by revising the guidelines on corporate social responsibility on Tuesday. According to the new arrangement, the poor and underprivileged citizens who were injured in the Gen-G movement and are being treated in government hospitals will be allowed to include the expenses provided to that hospital under the CSR heading so that they do not have to pay twice for medical treatment.

Similarly, the National Bank has opened a way for banks and financial institutions to spend the amount under CSR to increase the income generation capacity of the people who were martyred in the Gen-G movement and the families who do not have direct employment for income generation. "In order to help increase the income generation capacity of families who have been martyred in the Gen-G movement and who do not have direct employment for income generation, the expenses will be provided to organizations that provide training based on the provision of skill training by the Nepal government or organizations that provide skill-based training approved by the government of Nepal," the Rashtra Bank circular said.
