Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has demanded various relief packages for flood-affected hydropower projects. Meeting with Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising on Wednesday, IPPAN President Ganesh Karki said that the government should announce a relief package for the reconstruction of hydropower projects damaged by the floods.
Chairman Karki also said that a relief package should be brought by taking into account all the projects damaged by the floods of 2080 Jestha 32 and Asar 1, 2081 Asar/Shrawan and Asoj 11/12 and 2082 Asar/Shrawan and the recent floods, including the date of commencement of electricity production (RCOD), license period, loan rescheduling, long-term financing and exemption from customs duties.
During the meeting, Energy Minister Kulman Ghising said that he would take the initiative to provide all possible relief to the flood-affected projects. He also informed that he would present the problems of forest-related energy projects in the upcoming cabinet meeting to resolve them.

5) Necessary policy decisions should be taken by declaring the hydropower projects damaged by natural disasters as crisis-affected.
6) Arrangements should be made for long-term financing for flood-affected projects.
7) The system of automatically converting to Take and Pay PPA if electricity is not produced within the fiscal year 2082/83 - 2084/85 should be abolished.
