Due to floods caused by incessant rains, electricity production of 105.4 megawatt capacity from 13 hydropower projects in Ilam has been stopped.
According to the Association of Independent Energy Producers Nepal (IPPAN), 13 projects have been affected by the flood and production has stopped. The affected projects include 4.5 MW Mai Khola Hydropower, 8 MW Mai Khola Cascade, 22 MW Mai Khola, 7 MW Mai Khola Cascade, 7.8 MW Super Mai, 9.6 MW Super Mai A, 3 MW Super Mai A Cascade, 7.6 MW Jogmai Khola, 5.2 MW Jogmai Cascade, 6.2 MW Lower Jogmai, 9.5 MW Mybeni. Hydropower, 9.9 MW Upper My River and 5.1 MW My Sea Cascade.
In this project, powerhouse, culvert, headworks, transmission line and powerhouse have been damaged due to water seepage. According to IPPAN, 6 projects with a capacity of 93 MW under construction were also affected by the flood.
