Shri Hari Dhakal, central member of Gas Sellers Federation of Nepal, made a post on social media last Sunday saying that the inability to distribute Nepal gas has become a matter of shame. It is a matter of shame that Nepal Gas Industry is not able to distribute gas in the mouth of Chadbad. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to the customer," he wrote on Facebook, "I apologize for not being able to provide gas due to the failure of regular gas supply of Nepal Gas."

Dhakal, who is also a dealer of Nepal Gas, is only a representative character. Most of the dealers who sell Nepal gas are in the same situation. People are forced to wait for weeks if they do not get gas from the company on time. Nepal gas, which is mainly marketed in the valley, is not easily available in the market. There is a situation where you have to spend more than a week or ten days to get gas.

'Nepal Gas is the one that sells the most gas in the valley. There are about 8 lakh cylinders in the valley. But due to the internal strife of the industry, the common people were killed," said a dealer who did not want to be named. "As a big industry, we should have arranged for inventory, but there is no storage. Without importing gas for two or four days, even the depot of the Federation officials does not have enough gas.' At other times too, the problem has been seen time and time again. But now there is a shortage in the festival itself. Madhav Timilsina, president of the Consumer Rights Research Forum, said that this has caused many problems for consumers. Even if it is taken as normal when there is a shortage at other times, it can be considered as a complete failure of the industry if it is not possible to manage the supply during the festival. It is irresponsible not to be able to provide gas to the common people during the festival," he said. "There is no complaint of shortage of other gas companies. But Nepal Gas has received 4/5 complaints daily. People cannot be played with. He claimed that Nepal Oil Corporation is also guilty of gas shortage during the festival. It is the corporation's responsibility to make the supply system agile. The fact that the corporation remains silent even when there is a gas shortage is irresponsibility of the management," President Timilsina said, "It is necessary to find the culprits for the lack of gas in Chadbad and bring them to justice. 

According to the Gas Sellers Federation, there is no such problem in gas other than Nepal Gas. There are no complaints of shortages. In the case of Nepal Gas, the officials of the federation say that there are problems from time to time. According to the senior vice president of the Federation, Bishnu Dulal, Nepal Gas has 350 to 400 dealers/depots. He claimed that highway blocking was the main factor behind the recent shortage.

'The gas bullet stopped on the way. "There was no sale for 4/5 days," said Senior Vice President Dulal, "there are some problems with other gas companies, but Nepal gas is sold more in the valley." That is why the problem seems to be more. He claimed that there is no shortage of Nepal gas in Balaju region. As the factory of Nepal Gas is in Balaju, the shortage in that area has been reduced. But in the case of other areas, Timilsina says that Nepal gas is not easily available.

Manager Buddhi Pandit of Nepal Gas Industry said that gas bullets could not come for 4/5 days due to landslides on the highway  . He says that the factory had to be closed because the gas bullets did not come. "22 bullets came in the last day. We have started sending gas to the market from Sunday and Monday. We have sent 23/24 thousand cylinders of gas in two days," he said. "There was a problem on the highway. The second Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Barauni refinery also did not have smooth loading. Due to lack of load in Barauni, import from other refineries was also delayed.'

Gas They import gas from Barauni, Paradip, Mathura, Haldia and Durgapur refineries. Along with Nepal Gas, other gas companies also import from the same refinery. Sellers say that there is no shortage of others.

Manager Pandit said another reason for the shortage is the festival.  Demand for gas cylinders is also high in Chadbad. There was some problem in the market when the factory was closed for 4/5 days due to having to send 6/7 thousand cylinders daily. We could not deliver all the places we asked for during the festival," he said, "Now it is gradually becoming easier. After the office opens on Sunday, the market becomes easy.'

There are currently 59 gas companies in Nepal. The average storage of those industries is only 7 to 10 days. Nepal Oil Corporation does not have a structure to maintain balance for a limited period of time with indigenous industrialists. The corporation only issues product delivery order (PDO) of gas.

Nigam's spokesperson Manoj Thakur said that the shortage may be due to financial problems or managerial weaknesses in the Nepal gas industry. "Recently, more gas than the demand has come. In normal conditions, 70 to 75 bullets are imported daily, but now more than 100 are imported," he said. "There is no shortage of gas from other gas companies. There may have been a problem because of not being able to manage Nepal Gas.

The main owners of Nepal Gas are Gunachandra Bishta and Gokul Bhandari. According to sources, the relationship between Bista and Bhandari has not been smooth lately. For the same reason, Nepal Gas Company has been put up for sale. Bhandari has not taken charge of the management for about a month and a half.
