Buses and passengers could not be seen on the Narayangadh-Muglin road on Wednesday when the road was blocked by a huge landslide in Tuinkhola. There are cargo trucks all over the road. Indian number plates and Nepalese trucks have sacks of onions, garlic and potatoes. Some trucks are also carrying building materials, rods and cement. Bullets carrying LP gas are found everywhere and tankers carrying petroleum products are also found here and there.

Naveen Chaudhary of Sarlahi and Pawan Rana of Chitwan were found near Topekhola, about one and a half kilometers above the landslide area Tuinkhola. Naveen Ba P-03-001 is the driver of truck number 3496 and Pawan Na 6 is the driver of truck number 9176 . These two drivers and their two co-drivers prepared and ate breakfast on the road. Naveen's truck has brought 421 sacks i.e. 21 quintals of sugar from Sarlahi.

'He walked from Sarlahi on the 5th of October. It was said that we will do at least two batches till today . The demand for sugar in Kathmandu is high during the festival. But even that one shipment has been for three days today, it has not been delivered to the place, Naveen said. When he arrived in Chitwan Ramnagar from Sarlahi, he got stuck in a traffic jam and when will he reach Muglin, he has no address. There is news that the landslide will open on Thursday. But he says that he does not believe.

Even if the landslide of Tuinkhola opens, he is afraid that other places will fall again. Landslides have occurred in places on the way to Kathmandu. Pawan Rana walked to Kathmandu with chicken feed from Chitwan Tandi. He also took the road on October 5 . But he is surprised when the road is blocked. "Calls are coming from Kathmandu continuously, saying that we need to bring firewood and grains soon. Here, the road has been blocked by landslides, said Pawan.

Pawan and Naveen's truck is loaded with non-perishable materials. But there are also cars loaded with garlic, onions and even more perishable bananas. The driver says that the vehicle carrying garlic-onion has been forced to stay on the road for five days . Some drivers complained that the road office did not deploy enough operators and machines when the road was blocked by landslides. They complain that the price of food is too high.

The Narayangadh-Muglin road is the main road connecting the country's federal capital Kathmandu and the tourist city of Pokhara with the East-West highway. Vehicles were stuck after a landslide occurred in Tuinkhola near Muglin on Friday evening. Before the landslide that fell in the evening could be cleared, an even bigger landslide fell on Saturday morning. 45 hours after clearing the landslide, one-way traffic was opened on Saturday afternoon. Both ways were also opened on Monday afternoon.

But after the landslides and stones did not stop falling, the car was closing and opening. After a big landslide occurred around five o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, the road is now closed to traffic. Engineer Krishna Acharya, information officer of Bharatpur's divisional road office, said that due to the landslide, 14,000 cubic meters of soil, large and small stones and Gegran came and piled up on the road. "This is a very big landslide," he said.

Machines have been clearing landslides from Narayangadh and Muglin. Engineer Arjun Ghimire of the Division Road Office, who is working in the field, said that there is a possibility that the traffic will be operational till Thursday afternoon. Due to the large landslide, the administration has appealed to adopt an alternative route.

'The passenger bus did not come here because they asked to take an alternative route . Yesterday we brought the passengers stuck on the road to Narayangadh using the police school bus. That's why there are few passengers on the road," said Chitwan District Police Office Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Govind Puri. Alternative roads are narrow. Therefore, they are not suitable for large vehicles and cargo trucks.

Damodar Bhandari, the driver of the bus No. 6 B 9176, which crashed a little further than Pawan and Naveen's truck, said that all the passengers were going to their destination in their own way. Bhandari has been driving the Dang-Kathmandu bus. He was also cooking and eating food on the road along with other bus drivers and co-drivers.

'We have been in a jam since 3 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday . It was said to be able to go forward. But at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the road was blocked after a big landslide. There were 35 passengers on the bus from Dang to Kathmandu. There are none at the moment . Everyone went their own way, said the driver. The suspension bridge at Trishuli, five kilometers from Muglin, connects Chitwan and Tanahun.

On the other side of Tanahun, a road parallel to Narayangadh-Muglin road is starting to be built along the edge of Trishuli. Through the road, which can be used by small cars and motorcycles, many people crossed the landslide and traveled five kilometers. It is not possible to cross even by walking in the landslide area. Therefore, travelers stuck in Muglin cross the parallel road and cross the suspension bridge at five kilometers to come here and then go there and reach Muglin . The truck driver says that motorcycles and small vehicles were driving on that road on Tuesday night.

Passengers headed towards their destination, regardless of risk. But big trucks that transport goods have no choice but to wait for when the landslide will clear . This road is called the lifeline of Kathmandu because it is the main route for cargo trucks to facilitate the supply system of the capital. But this road is plagued by landslides during the festival.
