Finance Minister's directive to control revenue leakage without political pressure

Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal has instructed the employees to work well without political pressure and to control revenue leakage. Khanal gave this instruction in the meeting of the Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Finance Minister.

"Keep the morale of the security agencies high, build a virtuous environment, structural reforms in the revenue system, act free from political pressure," he said, "build an information system in the revenue investigation department to control revenue leakage." In the meeting, the impact of the GST rate, which was recently changed by the Government of India, on the overall revenue system of Nepal was discussed. 

Intensifying market monitoring to control tax evasion and revenue leakage was discussed and the officials of the concerned bodies present in the meeting also expressed a collective commitment to control revenue leakage in the changing situation. In the

meeting, the Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Home Secretary, Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Revenue, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Inspector General of Nepal Armed Police Force, Chief Investigation Officer of National Investigation Department, Director General of Customs Department, Director General of Internal Revenue Department, Director General of Revenue Investigation Department, Director General of Money Laundering Investigation Department and others were present.
