Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal and United States Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson had a meeting today. Finance Minister Khanal and the American ambassador discussed the current changing situation in Nepal and the assistance that the US can provide to Nepal in this situation.
In that discussion, Finance Minister Khanal said that the main task of the current government, which was formed under special circumstances, is to hold elections on time, to raise the morale of the private sector through reconstruction plans and concession packages.
American Ambassador Thompson expressed his condolences and sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent incident and said that the American government is with Nepal in this situation. He said that more commitment of the government is needed in the timely completion of the projects being implemented by MCA Nepal, which is run with the support of MCC.
Finance Minister Khanal assured that there will be no delay in the actions to be taken by the government for the successful implementation of these projects. On that occasion, Finance Minister Khanal highly appreciated the continuous support from the American government in the socio-economic development of Nepal.
