While monitoring the road from Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel to Khawa, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has instructed to make it smooth during the festival. Minister Ghising took information about the construction progress while monitoring the said road.
During the monitoring, Minister Ghising had a discussion with the Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Keshav Kumar Sharma, the Director General of the Road Department, Vijay Jaisi, the head of the project and construction professionals. In the
discussion, Minister Ghising gave directions to facilitate the traffic flow by repairing potholes on the roads immediately, taking into account the festival. Minister Ghising requested that if there are issues that are yet to be decided on the project, they should be decided immediately, the construction work should be carried forward by adding manpower and equipment and the road expansion should be completed within the current financial year.
The 15.8 km road from Suryavinayak to Dhulikhel is being expanded into 6 lanes . According to the project, there is 39 percent physical progress in the 8.3 km section from Suryavinayak to Sanga and 51 percent in the 7.5 km section from Sanga to Dhulikhel. The construction progress of the overall project is 45 percent so far.
80 percent of the retaining wall and drain construction work has been completed. In Dhulikhel, 1 km road has been paved. However, the project stated that the construction work of the project has been affected due to road boundary disputes, the problem of house-roof removal, and lack of budget.
Minister Ghising assured about taking necessary steps to prevent budget shortage. According to Jaisi, Director General of the Roads Department, only 500 million has been allocated for the project in the current financial year out of a budget of about 3 billion.
