Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising visited the Madhya Bhotekoshi hydropower project, which is undergoing testing for commercial production, on Monday.
Minister Ghising inspected the 102 MW hydropower project constructed at Sindhupalchowk. The project said that Monday is the second day of the 72-hour test production required for commercial electricity generation after the construction has been completed.
When he was the managing director of Chilime Hydropower Company, under the leadership of Minister Ghising, the detailed study of the project, electricity purchase and sale agreement, financial management and contract agreement were completed and reached the construction stage. A total of 102 megawatts of electricity has been generated from the project during testing and is being flowed to the national transmission system.
There was a problem in completing the construction of the project on time due to Jure landslide, 072 earthquake, flood in Bhotekoshi river, covid-19 epidemic, local obstacles etc.
