Chairman Dhakal said that such events will have long-term effects to attract foreign and domestic investment in Nepal. The investment environment in Nepal has deteriorated. Such events have a serious impact on the economic development of the country. I urge the government, political parties and stakeholders to maintain an investment-friendly environment," he said.
President Dhakal said that although the Federation has continuously taken initiatives to bring in foreign investment and promote internal investment of Nepal, such incidents will send a negative message to both the national and international sectors.
When the private sector contributes more than 81 percent to Nepal's economy and 86 percent to employment, he said that the peace and security of industrialists should be guaranteed to protect investments. He said that due to the latest incident, the government has also lost revenue.
The Federation has previously met with the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Home Affairs to ensure that the private sector is still not able to feel peace and security, and to bring legal action against those involved in the attacks, vandalism and arson of the property of the private sector during the agitation.
Federation has been urging all concerned parties to protect the private sector, guarantee security and ensure an investment-friendly environment.
