Customs has been officially started from the wide plateau Korla border post No. 24 between Nepal and China in Lomanthang rural municipality-1 Nechung.

With the installation of the Automatic System of Custom Data (Ayuda) system at the Nechung Customs Office in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-2 Choser, the Korla Customs Office has informed that 67 Chinese containers carrying various prepared clothes, electronics and cosmetic goods including 151 Chinese electric (EV) vehicles have arrived.

By Tuesday, the first batch of 21 containers passed the customs check and came down from Korla. At the same time, 2 trucks of Nepali handicrafts and worship materials were exported from Nepal to China. All goods sent from Nepal to China are zero duty (tax free) goods. Although the goods are tested with the latest scanner technology from China and pass the inspection, computer billing has been started based on the bill from here and there.

"Even in Korla Customs Office, we have replaced the analogue system of paper bills and set up an international customs system to import Chinese goods." Head of Korla Customs Office, Ramesh Khadka, said, "The vehicle has not left there (China) for 2 days, more goods may arrive from tomorrow." The Korla crossing was used as an alternative route after the floods and landslides that occurred at Tatopani crossing located in Rasuwagadhi damaged the infrastructures of the customs office as well.

The EV vehicles from China are kept in the dry and open port at Korla. According to the protocol of the transit and transport agreement signed between Nepal and China in 2007, the Korla dry port has been put into operation.

Chinese immigration office has installed 10 booths of prefab technology and installed automatic system of custom data (Ayuda) system. China across the border, in addition to information technology-connected customs offices, quarantine, housing, laboratories, warehouses, truck and container parking  And security infrastructure has been established.

The first batch of 21 containers that escaped from Korla Customs have been dropped from Mustang. More are undergoing customs inspection today. Now, business will be added to the Pokhara-Beni-Jomsom-Korla road under the Kaligandaki Corridor', Chief District Officer of Mustang, Bishnu Prasad Bhusal, said, 'During the monsoon season, landslides in the border areas of Myagdi and Mustang have made transportation somewhat difficult, but not completely blocked. Due to the cold in Korla, some problems have also been observed in starting the car.'
