The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order against the government's decision to remove Insurance Authority chairman Sharad Ojha from the post of chairman. A single bench of Judge Saranga Subedi passed a short-term interim order against the government's decision on Monday.
On August 2, the government dismissed Sharad Ojha, the suspended chairman of the Insurance Authority. The cabinet decided to dismiss Ojha after the investigation committee concluded that the documents submitted by Ojha when he was appointed as the chairman were suspicious.
Ojha went to the Supreme Court against the decision. Ojha, who filed a writ petition on Sunday, was granted a short-term interim order by the Supreme Court through Monday's hearing. In the order, it is said that both parties will be called for discussion.
After questions were raised about Ojha's competence and Anabhu relationship, the government formed a three-member investigation committee under the coordination of former judge Krishna Giri on June 30. Kapil Wali and Jeevan Prakash Sitaula were members of the committee. With the formation of the committee, Ojha was suspended. The
committee submitted an investigation report to the Prime Minister's Office in the last week of June. The Prime Minister's Office instructed the Ministry of Finance to implement the report. On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel submitted a proposal to dismiss Ojha in the Cabinet based on the same directive. According to the same proposal, the government dismissed Ojha.
Ojha was appointed as the chairman of the authority for 4 years from the cabinet meeting on 12 February 2081. Since
, the Supreme Court has ordered not to implement the dismissal decision immediately. On the other hand, the government formed a recommendation committee under the chairmanship of Shivraj Shrestha, vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission, for the appointment of a new chairman. The committee had given a week's time and asked for an application. In which 14 candidates have applied.
