On this August 14, 14 candidates have applied for the application requested by giving a deadline of one week.

According to Ghanshyam Budhathoki, Vikrant Pandey, Paras Kafle, Bishnubabu Mishra, Buddhakaji Shrestha, Damodar Basaula, Chintamani Sivakoti, Gyanendra Adhikari, Devkumar Dhakal, Deepak Bahadur Bhandari, Rajendra Pandit, Yagya Prasad Neupane, Ramesh Kumar Bhattarai and Maheshwar Neupane.

The government has already formed a three-member recommendation committee under the coordination of Shivraj Adhikari, vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay and expert member Khomraj Kharel are members of the committee.

A person who has at least five years of high managerial work experience in the relevant field with at least a master's degree in insurance, monetary, banking, commerce, management, public administration, statistics, mathematics, economics or law can apply to the chairman of the authority.

There is a provision that the president must be 30 years old and not exceed 65 years of age . It is mentioned in the notification that a person who has reached the mentioned qualifications can apply by paying 7,500 fees. 

Sharad Ojha was dismissed by the government on August 2, saying that the documents submitted by Sharad Ojha when he was appointed as the outgoing chairman of the authority were suspicious. In this way, the government has started the process for the appointment of the chairman in the vacant post. According to the provisions of the Insurance Act, the responsibility of the chairman of the authority has been given to Seventak Pokharel.
