Direct charter flight between Pokhara and Paro in Bhutan will be started. Universal Tours and Travels (UTT) Pvt Ltd is going to operate charter flights in collaboration with Bhutan Airlines from October 12.
According to the company, the flight will start from 12 October and will last until 16, 20 and 24 October. UTT held a press conference in Pokhara on Tuesday and officially announced the flight. UTT has also interacted with travel agents on Tuesday.
According to Parasar Prasai, Acting President of UTT, Airbus A-319 aircraft with a capacity of 126 seats will take off from Paro. The company has made a package of 1 lakh 84 thousand 500 rupees for 2 people to visit Bhutan for 4 nights and 5 days. "This is an initiative for Paro-Pokhara regular flights," Prasai said, "This collaboration with Bhutan Airlines not only connects Pokhara and Paro, but also creates an opportunity to strengthen cultural and economic relations through regional cooperation." He said that flights will be expanded based on occupancy.
Minister of Industry and Tourism of Gandaki Province Mitralal Basyal said that the international flight from Pokhara is continuing with the joint efforts of all. He said that discussions are being held with Dubai and Bangladesh regarding flights to Pokhara. "Before the Prime Minister's visit to India, we request him to meet him and find out the reason why India is not giving him the route," he said.
Dhanraj Acharya, head of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, said that this flight will help in strengthening the historical, cultural and religious relations between Nepal and Bhutan. He also informed that China's Sichuan Airlines will operate Pokhara-Chengdu-Australia flights in the near future.
Pomnarayan Shrestha, the former chairman of the Pokhara Tourism Council, expressed his belief that this flight will establish a direct air link between Pokhara and Paro and provide significant support in the promotion of tourism in both destinations. Pokhara-Paro direct flight is expected to add a new dimension to mountain tourism. Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, Pokhara International Airport and organizations related to hotels, restaurants and travel have collaborated for charter flights. Earlier, Bhutan's Druk Air plane has already made a charter flight to Pokhara. Currently, Himalaya Airlines is flying to Lhasa once a week from Pokhara.
