The government has started the process of appointing the Chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority. A three-member recommendation committee has been formed for this. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 9 formed a three-member recommendation committee chaired by Shivraj Adhikari, vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission.

Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay and expert member Khomraj Kharel are members of the committee.

The government dismissed Sharad Ojha on August 2, saying that the documents submitted by Sharad Ojha when he was appointed as the chairman of the authority were suspicious. In this way, the government has started the process for appointing the chairman to the vacant post. With the dismissal of Ojha, according to the provisions of the Insurance Act, the responsibility of the chairman of the authority has been given to Seventak Pokharel.
