The government has disbursed funds for incentives and subsidies to sugarcane farmers on Tuesday. The Ministry of Finance has disbursed Rs 75 crore 49 lakh 38 thousand 240 for this.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, the disbursed amount will be paid through the bank account of the farmer through the office of the Controller of Funds and Accounts in the district.

The cabinet meeting decided to provide Rs 35 per quintal subsidy to sugarcane farmers this time, but the Ministry of Finance delayed the disbursement citing technical reasons. Sugarcane farmers have been protesting in Kathmandu since they did not receive this amount. Earlier sugarcane farmers were getting Rs 70 per quintal as incentive.

Although the Ministry of Agriculture took a proposal to the Council of Ministers to provide this amount to the sugarcane farmers, it was decided to provide 35 rupees based on the country's economic situation and needs.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held between sugarcane farmers gathered in Kathmandu and the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture at the ministry located in Singhdarbar. Lalan Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General of Agriculture Department, Lal Kumar Shrestha, Mani Ratna Aryal and Mani Ratna Aryal, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, and representatives of the Ministry of Industry are participating in the talks.

Earlier, Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari formed a 4-member negotiation team under the coordination of Deputy Director General Singh today.
