The tunnel of the Bhotekoshi-1 hydropower project with a capacity of 44 megawatts under construction in the Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok with the investment of the private sector was broken through on Monday.
The project is being built with the investment of Electro Power Company. The project started the tunnel construction in February 2080 . The length of the tunnel is 2 km 638 meters, the width is 5.2 meters and the height is 5.2 meters. Geography Infrastructure Company involved in the construction of the tunnel has estimated that it will take 6 to 8 months to complete the finishing of the tunnel.
A dam is being constructed in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-3 and 4 and a power house is being constructed in Chaku Ward No. 5 of the same municipality. Mohanvikram Karki, chairman of the main investor Electro Power, informed that other works are being done with the plan to start production by next February. According to him, the investors of the project, which is estimated to cost around 9.56 billion, are all Nepalis.

The construction of 46 MW Bhotekoshi-5 project has been prepared in the lower part of the power house in central Bhotekoshi. The group led by Karki, president of Elektro, has prepared to purchase and build Kalika Energy Limited. The project will be built in Bahrbise Municipality and Tripurasundari Rural Municipality.
