The Advertising Board has requested the media and advertising agencies dealing in advertisements to register and renew them compulsorily.

The board issued a notification on Sunday and said that according to section 26 of the Advertisement (Regulations) Act, 2076, it is mandatory for the media and agencies to be registered or renewed with the board to conduct advertising business. There is a provision in the Act that the media and agencies cannot do advertising business if they are not listed .

'Print, electronic, online media and advertising agencies are requested to list and renew in the advertisement board,' the notice says, 'This notice is published for the information of all those concerned who will be dealt with in accordance with the prevailing laws if they do business in advertising without listing and renewing.'

Advertisement (Regulations) 2077 Rule 11 states that advertising agencies should be listed. For this, an application should be submitted along with documents such as registration certificate, renewal documents, tax payment certificate, annual turnover and details of the capital structure of such agency.

There is a provision to distribute public welfare and government advertisements through the board. Three percent of the total budget allocated by the government to distribute advertisements through the board is collected in the fund of the board. The government has been allocating 300 million annually for public welfare advertisements.
