Sagarmatha Gas Industry Pvt Ltd has destroyed the old cylinders which are at risk. The industry located in Banepa municipality-4 Thapagaon of Kavre destroyed 3030 unsafe and old cylinders on Sunday.

Oil Corporation, Quality and Weights Department, local people's representative, consumer rights workers have destroyed cylinders in Rohobar on Sunday.
'Last year's floods damaged some cylinders. There was also an instruction from the Oil Corporation to destroy the damaged cylinders,' said Savarmal Aggarwal, the owner of the industry, in the cylinder destruction program held on Sunday, 'We have destroyed the old cylinders to provide good and sound gas cylinders in the market.'
Sagarmatha Gas Industry has been selling Sagar brand cylinders. The cylinder destroyed on Sunday is from last August till now. In the past, we used to collect and destroy them. On an average, 3 to 500 cylinders were destroyed. This time the flood caused a lot of problems . We have collected more than 3,000 cylinders in one year, the process of collection is still going on," he said, "all the collected cylinders are tested. We have destroyed cylinders that do not meet the standards.'
Sagarmatha Gas Industry, which is refilling 7,500 cylinders daily, said that there are 4.5 lakh cylinders in the market. He said that those cylinders in the market will be tested during refilling. Sanjeev Sangraula, an official of Oil Corporation and Anjoy Manandhar of Quality and Weights Department, who participated in the monitoring, said that it was positive to destroy expired and damaged cylinders. He said that consumers should also be made safe by sending safe cylinders to the market.
Currently there are more than 60 gas industries in the country. The risk is increasing due to not including timely hydroling/hydro static test . Hydroling/Hydrostatic testing is done with air and water pressure . The refilled cylinder is immersed in water . It is also called dip test . Blisters come out in case of leakage during dip test . Madhav Timilsina, President of the Consumer Rights Research Forum participating in the
program, said that destroying unsafe and old cylinders would be in favor of consumers. He said that every gas industry should fulfill its obligations and destroy old and expired cylinders on time.
