The convention of Cardamom Traders Federation will be held on 14th and 15th of Bhadra at Birtamod, Jhapa. Cardamom is one of the most exported agricultural produce from Nepal. Narayan Chimaria, Deepak Nepal and Omkrishna Vimali are seen as hopefuls for the president of the federation.
Chimaria, a businessman from Jhapa, is currently the general secretary of the federation. Businessmen of Panchthar Nepal are businessmen who have held the responsibilities of the founding vice president and senior vice president of the federation. Vimali was the candidate for the president in the previous convention. He is also the businessman who exported the most cardamom last financial year.
About eight billion worth of cardamom is exported to India annually from Nepal.
