Approval to sell an additional 80 MW of electricity in India

India has approved the purchase of an additional 80 MW of electricity. 48.5 MW Mewa Khola and 31.04 MW Karuva Seti hydropower projects have been approved for export.

During the rainy season, Nepal has been selling electricity and during the dry season, it has been buying it with India. Along with India, Nepal has also been exporting 40 megawatts of electricity to Bangladesh. 

Last time India  Approval was given for the export of 200 megawatts of electricity. Bilateral between Nepal and India  Under the agreement, electricity will be exported for the medium term. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, electricity can be exported till 31 October 2026.
