Trekking guide and porter training for 281 people in Pokhara

Trekking guide and porter training has been provided to 281 people who are interested in the tourism sector. They were trained in Pokhara under the project of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN) Gandaki.

221 people took 28-day trekking guide training and 60 people took 15-day porter guide training. Krishna Acharya, president of Tan Gand, said that 24 people who took the trekking guide training failed. All those who get the certificate are eligible to get the license. On the basis of that certificate, a license is obtained from the tourism office," he said.

On that occasion, Chief Minister Pandey said that skilled manpower is an important part of the tourism sector.  He said that trekking guides and trekking porter guides can play the role of ambassadors in the promotion of

Nepal. He said that since the trekking route is disappearing, the government has managed the budget for the construction of alternative routes.   

The training was started in Pokhara from May 26 with the cooperation of Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Institute (NATHUM) and the promotion of Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki.
