Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari has informed that although the annual demand for fertilizer is 1.3 lakh tonnes, the government plans to supply only 6 lakh tonnes in the current financial year.

Answering the questions raised during the emergency and zero time of the House of Representatives on Thursday, the minister said that the budget available for fertilizers in the current financial year cannot meet the demand  .

'Currently, the annual demand of fertilizer is projected by the ministry to be 1.3 million tons. The government plans to supply 600,000 tonnes in the current financial year. Due to the excessive subsidy on fertilizers, the available budget could not bring fertilizers to meet the demand. I would like to request that there is 82 percent fertilizer subsidy on urea, 64 percent on DAP and 49 percent on potash fertilizer,' said the minister official.

90 percent of the fertilizer that is bought and brought is scientifically based where it is more consumed,  He also said that arrangements have been made to distribute it through the state government.

According to the minister, the fertilizer will be distributed to the municipality according to the quota of the province and the municipality will distribute it according to the working area through Agrovet or private firm in the cooperative and non-cooperative areas. He also claimed that the fertilizer distribution process has been made scientific and transparent.
