Fuel import from the pipeline will be stopped from July 31 for maintenance due to technical problems in the petroleum pipeline infrastructure built under the second phase without formal inauguration. The pipeline will be repaired after the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) team that came to inspect the pipeline said that there was a problem with the fuel pressure.

The inspection team led by IOC Executive Director Manoj Sharma pointed out that the 'loading bay' and valve should be repaired by opening them. IOC technicians have said that the repair work should start from August 14 and 15. It has been announced that the loading bay and valve will be repaired after closing the pipeline from August 16 (July 31).

The IOC team came for inspection after seeing technical problems. Although the transportation work has been stopped, there has been a discussion to repair it from August 16," said Pralayankar Acharya, head of the regional office of the corporation in Amlekhganj. But we will not let there be a shortage of fuel in the market.

The corporation says, "We will repair the pipeline by stocking up 43 thousand kiloliters of fuel, it will last for 7 days, let's not let there be a shortage in the market." On an average, 3,000 to 3,500 kiloliters are sold per day. "From 17 to 1800 kiloliters of fuel sold per day, now it is reduced to only 6/700 kiloliters," he said, "even if the pipeline is closed, there is no fuel problem in the market." According to the corporation, the pipeline will be repaired only after adequate storage in all these depots. The problem is seen where the loading bay/TLF shed is made from the fuel storage tank. According to the corporation, the pipe vibrates during the loading of fuel in the tanker, and the pipe itself seems to be bent due to the change in alignment. It is said that the loading bay pipe has moved forward about 10 cm. According to the corporation, the corporation has invested 1 billion 54 crores and the IOC has invested 750 crores in the infrastructure built under the second phase. The construction work was done by IOC.

The current problem was seen two months ago. After a problem was noticed during the loading of petrol and diesel, IOC technicians came and repaired it. The pipeline was closed for 6 days. Now, after the problem appeared again, the IOC team came to Nepal on Wednesday to inspect. The IOC team also inspected the petroleum pipeline and storage house to be built up to Amlekhganj on Wednesday. On Thursday, the technical problem in Amlekhganj pipeline was identified. The IOC team is scheduled to return to India on Friday, the corporation said. After that, a technical team will come for repairs.

Corporation spokesperson Manoj Thakur said that a team of IOC has come to inspect the pipeline due to technical problems. Along with this, he said that there is also work to observe the pipeline area to be built in Lothar. The pipeline and storage house to be built in Lothar have been designed. The work is also in flux. As the construction is done by the IOC, the field inspection has been done," said Thakur, "The technical problem seen in the Amlekhganj pipeline on Thursday has been identified. Even if the import has to be stopped for a few days and repairs will have to be made, there will be no problem of supply in the market.

The IOC team has also come to observe the progress of the pipeline and storage house being built in Lothar, said Chandika Prasad Bhatt, executive director of the corporation. According to Bhatt, they said that there should be no delay in the pipeline project.

A pipeline and a storage place are going to be built in Lothar at a cost of 14 billion 96 million rupees. The cost of the pipeline is 4 billion 288 million rupees and the cost of the storage house is 9 billion 808 million rupees. IOC has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for its construction. The field office of the project to build a petroleum storage house with a pipeline from Amlekhganj to Lothar has been inaugurated. Project head Pradeep Kumar Yadav said that the work of the storage site along with the pipeline will be completed within 54 months.
