With only a few days left for the contract, the Burtibang-Paudi-Amrai-Tamghas-Sandhikhark-Gorusinge 132 KV double circuit transmission line project has just received an order to cut trees.

As part of the project, the division forest office Gulmi has ordered the cutting of 942 trees falling on the transmission line of Gulmi section only on Saturday. The deadline for completing the transmission line, which has been under construction since 2076, is only until July 28. For the

project, the Federal Council of Ministers decided on 17 June 2081 to approve the use of 25.1312 hectares of land in the national forest areas of Gulmi, Arghakhanchi and Baglung and the removal of 1,748 trees/poles. According to the same decision, an agreement was reached between the Forest and Land Conservation Department and the Nepal Electricity Authority on January 20 last year. According to the decision of the Council of Ministers and the agreement, in Argakhanchi and Baglung, the construction of the transmission line has been completed after getting the consent to remove the trees on time.

However, Divisional Forest Office Gulmi said that project chief Manoj Kumar Choudhary said that the work was delayed due to not giving the order for felling of trees in the decision implementation process . "Forest has delayed a lot, Gulmi's division forest office stopped it for 7/8 months," said Chaudhary, head of the project. 942 trees will have to be removed. Which is in the public forest area of Resunga Municipality-5 and 6, Musikot Municipality 2 and 3 and Ishma Rural Municipality-3.

It is said that after the completion of the project costing 4.86 billion Nepalese government and authorities, the electricity will be connected to the national transmission system and the quality of the electricity supply in this area will also be reduced. A power purchase agreement (PPA) of 130 megawatts has been made with 7 private sector hydropower projects in Baglung to be connected to the transmission line. However, due to the obstruction for the construction of the transmission line, on the one hand, the people will not be able to turn on the electricity, on the other hand, the produced electricity will be wasted and the authority will have to pay compensation to the contractor, said Chowdhury, the head of the project. "On the one hand, the people have not been able to turn on the electricity, our electricity is being wasted," he said, "on the other hand, we have paid 16.5 million compensation to the contractor company last year alone."

There is a complaint from the division forest office that tree felling orders will be received on time for construction from the private sector, but the government agencies have ignored the construction work of national concern.

Although the political parties here are working hard for some projects, stakeholders say that they do not care about the broadcasting line.   Division One officers were also transferred and worked, but the initiative of the political parties for the construction of the national transmission line was less,' says a civic leader of Gulmi.   Among the 5 substations under the

transmission line, Motipur in Kapilvastu, Fudwang in Arghakhanchi, Unaichaur in Gulmi, Paudiamrai in Gulmi and Burtibang in Baglung have been completed. The transmission line work has been completed in Motipur-Sandhikhark, Sandhikhark-Tamghas and Baglung sections. Although the work of burying 96 towers in Gulmi section was completed, the work of pulling the wire was stopped due to not getting permission to cut trees. Chaudhary says that although the authority has not extended the deadline for the project, it has given verbal consent to complete it by October 15.
