The construction of an international apron and a taxi-way connecting the apron with the runway to the north is underway with a joint investment of 7 billion by the Government of Nepal and the Civil Aviation Authority. This work was started from August 20, 2020 . This work is 75 percent completed. This work, which is being done by the Chinese contractor Avic International, is planned to be completed in February 2026.

In the eastern part of the airport, a hangar area is being constructed for airline companies including Nepali Army, Nepal Aviation Corporation, Yeti Airlines, Shree Airlines, etc. at a cost of 4 billion rupees. 45 percent of this work has been completed . This work started from November 2022 and is expected to be completed by October 2026. Asian Development Bank has 78% loan investment in it while the remaining 22% amount is from Nepal Civil Aviation Authority. Chinese companies Avic, KDN and CCECJV are involved in this project .
The third project within the airport, the construction of the taxi-way parallel to the runway, has been completed 60 percent . This project, which started in December 2022, is expected to be completed in October 2026. This project with an investment of around 4 billion rupees is being built by the Chinese company Gansu.
