The contract has been signed for the 25 km section of the BP highway which was damaged by the flood in October 2081 and the work has been progressed. A two-lane road is going to be constructed in the 30.5 km area from Bhakundebensi to Nepalthok which has been damaged by the flood.
At present, the contract has been signed for three packages, two for Kavre and one for Sindhuli.
Lama-Nav Kantipur JV has taken the contract of 11 km section from Bhakundebensi to Charsaybensi. In that section, an agreement has been reached for 1 billion 14 million rupees excluding VAT. The contract for the 9 km distance from Charsaybensi to Dalabensi has been awarded to Khani-Kamaljit-Awan JV for 1.22 billion rupees excluding VAT.
Both contracts were signed last June and the road department said that the work should be completed within two years from the date of the contract. Since the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will work on the 5 km section of this highway, the department invited contracts only for the other sections. JICA is ready to construct a 3.2 km road from Pipley to Barkhekhola, the final survey work of which is currently being done by JICA. The section will be built with the support of the Japanese government.
Arjun Prasad Aryal, Head of Development Assistance Implementation Division, informed about the section that will be built with a subsidy of 2 billion 63 million rupees from Japan. "By the time the road that we have started to be constructed is paved, Japan has asked us to build the same level until July 2027 to make vehicles operable," he said. Japan will call for the contract.
Suman Yogesh, Head of Road Division Bhaktapur, said that the contract for the 2.3 km section from Pipley to Dalabensi has been signed and the contract process is going on.
The 5 km section from Barkhekhola to Nepalthok falls in Sindhuli district. The contract for the said section was taken by Kharidhunga-Ghising-Khistij JV. The contract was signed in the second week of June for Rs 55 crore excluding VAT.
The head of the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, Shubraj Neupane, informed that an agreement will be reached by the end of 2025 for the construction of the section to be done by Japan. Company representatives have already gone to the field if the contract has been signed. They have already started temporary work so that there will not be any problem due to rain and flood if they take it,' he said, 'Workers and machines have been deployed.'
"The work will be done according to the design only after the rains," he said.
After the rain subsides, permanent construction will begin at the end of August, he said. "Construction professionals have been mobilized," he said, "we only coordinate." Arrangements have been made for engineers and sub-engineers to remain in the field throughout the year.' For the permanent construction and maintenance of the BP highway, in October 2081, after the end of the drought, a demand of Rs 8.55 crore was made through Road Division Bhaktapur and Khurkot. Accordingly, 7.5 billion rupees have been provided to Bhaktapur section and 1 billion rupees to Khurkot section.
