A revenue of 52 lakh 82 thousand 800 rupees 50 paise has been collected in the financial year 2081/082 from the collection and export of herbs in the Himalayan district of Manang.
Out of the revenue, 35 lakh 91 thousand 940 rupees 50 paisa have been accumulated in the account of the federal government. Revenue of 16 lakh 90 thousand 860 rupees has been accumulated in the accounts of local municipalities. There are 4 local levels in Manang.
Similarly, the Conservation Area Management Committee (CAMC) formed by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in Savik's village has taken 14 lakh 56 thousand 380 rupees for leaving herbs. For the supply of herbs in Manang, the local level and CAMC have been taking money from the herb dealers. According to
Acap, 34 lakh 85 thousand 90 rupees have been collected in the federal government account from Yarchagumbu alone in the last financial year. 11 lakh 28 thousand 200 rupees have been accumulated in the account of the local level and 11 lakh 33 thousand 2 hundred rupees in the account of CAMC. The federal government collects a revenue of 31 thousand rupees per kilogram of yarchagumbu. The local level and CAMC have been charging 10/10 thousand rupees per kg. Yarchagumba is sold up to 20 lakh rupees per kg.
In the last fiscal year, 112.693 kg of yarchagumbu was collected, said Dhak Bahadur Bhujel, head of ACAP area protection office in Manang. According to him, 3 thousand 186.3 hundred kilos of Vanalsun and 910 kilos of jimbu have been collected. The federal government has received 97 thousand 750 rupees from forest garlic. The federal government has been collecting revenue of Rs. 30 per kg.
Conservation Area Management Committee has taken 3 lakh 18 thousand 630 rupees and the local level has taken 5 lakh 58 thousand 660 rupees for forest clearance. CAMC and the local level have charged up to 200 rupees per kg of forest garlic. Garlic is sold up to 40 thousand rupees per kg. The federal government has received 9 thousand 100 rupees from Jimbu . CAMC has received 4 thousand 550 rupees and the local level has received 4 thousand rupees . The federal government of Jimbu has been charging Rs 10 per kg and the CAMC and the local level have been charging Rs 5/5. The federal government collects a revenue of 500 rupees per kg of bunch of mushrooms. According to
Acap, last year in Manang 1 thousand 36 foreigners and 488 locals 1 thousand 524 people took part for Yarchagumbu collection . CAMC has been giving collection allowance from 10,000 to 35,000 rupees per person to those who come from outside districts to collect yarchagumbu. They charge up to 5 thousand rupees per person from the locals. Yarchagumbu is found in more than 16 lakes of Manang.
Similarly, 929 people including 715 foreigners and 214 locals have collected forest garlic. Yarchagumbu is collected in Manang from the first week of Baisakh to the middle of June. Then forest garlic is collected . Zimbu is mostly collected in October-November. According to ECAP, Zimbu is found only in Phu village area of Narpabhumi.
