25,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer, which is to be imported by the agricultural material company through the global tender, has arrived at Kolkata port.
According to Durga Prasad Pandey, the head of the company's regional office, Birganj, the fertilizer supplied by India's fertilizer company IPL (Indian Potash Limited) has been purchased from a third country and is currently being packed at the Kolkata port. After packing, the fertilizer will be brought by train to the Sirsia dry port in Birgunj and the border Indian railway station in Birgunj.
Out of the total 25,000 tons, Birgunj Regional Office will receive 9,500 tons of manure, while the rest will be sent to Bhairahawa and Biratnagar Regional Offices. Pandey said that there is a possibility that the fertilizer will start coming in from the end of this week.
'Currently, the office has an old stock of DAP fertilizer and the fertilizer has been sent to the districts where there is a demand for it,' he said, 'the fertilizer that is coming in will easily meet the additional demand of the dry paddy crop season.' Apart from this, the fertilizer will be useful for corn crop and sugarcane crop as well, he said.
The company's regional office has been sending fertilizer from Birganj to 16 districts of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
