Even in the first week of July, significant planting has not been done in Madhesh province, which is considered to be the capital of rice. In Madhesh, even half of the paddy growing areas have not been planted till Sunday.
According to the Center for Crop Development and Agricultural Biodiversity Conservation, Madhesh has done the most planting among the seven provinces. According to the center, dry paddy is planted on 372 thousand 645 hectares in Madhesh. But till July 4, only 174 thousand 508 hectares i.e. 46.83 percent have been planted.
According to the Center's data, planting has almost doubled in the same period last year. 80.6 percent planting was done till June 6, 2081. The main reason for not planting rice in Madhesh is the lack of irrigation. Nepal has a monsoon based farming system. According to the Agriculture Research Council (NARC), due to lack of irrigation, planting could not be done on time. Now the meteorologists say that it will rain in Madhesh. Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said there is a chance of rain in Madhesh for a few days. Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rain on Sunday night.
After Madhesh, Koshi is also the least planted province. According to the center, 61.79 percent planting has been done in Koshi. 276 thousand 386 hectares are planted in this province. Of this, 170 thousand 790 hectares have been planted. 82.7 percent planting was done till July 6 of last year. According to the
center, 96.99 percent of rice has been planted in Far West. 176 thousand 151 hectares are planted in this province. Out of this, 170 thousand 843 hectares have been planted. Till July 6, 96.3 percent planting was done in this province.
In the second place, 87.93 percent planting has been done in Karnali. 40 thousand 884 hectares are planted in this province. Till July 6, 93 percent planting was done in this province. Planting had started from the second week of May towards the hills. Enthusiastic planting has taken place in this area. According to the Center, Lumbini also has 87.93 Percent planted. 3 lakh 2 thousand 939 hectares are planted in this province.
According to the center's data, 79.28 percent planting has been done in Gandaki province. Last year till July 6, only 84.3 percent planting was done. 94 thousand 182 hectares are planted in Gandaki. In Bagmati too, planting has been done more than last year. Till July 4, 87.19 percent planting has been done. 120 thousand 545 hectares are planted in this province. Last year till July 6, 85.5 percent planting was done.
