Nil Bahadur Saru Magar has been elected as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN). On the occasion of the 10th Council of ICAN held on June 32, Saru Magar was elected unopposed as the President.

Anandraj Sharma Wagle has been elected as the vice president of the organization. The newly elected president and vice president took the oath of office and secrecy on Friday. President Neel Saru took oath of office and secrecy from Chief Guest Auditor General Toyam Raya and Vice President Anand Sharma from the newly appointed President. Earlier, Saru Magar has completed his duties as the vice president of the organization for one year.

The newly elected President Saru Magar expressed his commitment to act as a bridge between two generations. According to the organization's three-year strategic plan and five-year strategic plan recently prepared by the organization with four pillars, he said that he will emphasize on making the accounting business excellent during his tenure and its effective implementation.   Praveen Kumar Jha, outgoing president of the organization, presented the progress report of his tenure in the

program. He informed that the fourth five-year strategic plan has been prepared. He informed that 208 CAs have been added to the organization this year.

He said that a new curriculum has been determined to make the students of Sieka competitive in the world. It mentioned that Nepali auditors will become more quality. He also informed that efforts have been made to make auditors more agile and responsible in the context of Nepal being on FATF's gray list. Auditor General Toyam Raya, the chief guest of the

program, pointed out that there have been various new dimensions in financial audits in the world and it is imperative to emulate them in Nepal. "Compliance audits, performance audits, IT audits have come," he said. In the

program, Controller General of Accounts Shobhakant Paudel asked to identify the existing obstacles and give suggestions to create a business environment in Nepal. He pointed out that ICAN can play a role in solving related problems, including company registration and obtaining licenses, and financial audits faced by the private sector.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) is a regulatory body established under the Nepal Chartered Accountants Act, 2053 to develop, protect, promote and regulate the accounting profession in Nepal. According to the provisions of the same Act, the institution has been providing chartered accountancy education since 1999.
