The government has honored 30 companies and organizations that contribute to the economy of the country along with the export trade and commerce sector with important professional persons (CIP). The government has honored the companies and institutions in various categories, including exporting more and receiving more remittances.
Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Damodar Bhandari honored the CIP on Wednesday in cooperation with the Nepal Federation of Industries and Commerce. There are 21 professional firms and companies among the recipients of CIP honors. Also, 9 organizations representing the private sector have received complimentary CIP.
CIP honor has been given to Chanda Prasad Dhakal, President of Federation of Commerce and Industry, Kamlesh Kumar Agarwal, President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, and Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, outgoing President of Nepal Industry Confederation, for their significant contribution to the development of export trade and commerce sector. Nepal Handicrafts Federation President Rabindra Shakya and Export Traders Federation President Govinda Prasad Ghimire have also been awarded CIP.
Apart from this, Resham Bahadur Pokharel, President of Nepal Churpi Businessmen's Association, Balram Gurung, President of Nepal Carpet Producers and Exporters Association, who exported 5 billion or more in the financial years 2079/80 and 2080/81, have also been awarded CIP.
President of Nepal Prepared Garment Industry Association Pashupatidev Pandey, President of Nepal Woolen Felt Producers and Exporters Association Naresh Lal Shrestha has also been awarded CIP. In the program, Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Damodar Bhandari said that cooperation with the private sector will be further strengthened for the prosperity of the country. He says that economic development and prosperity are not possible unless the morale of the private sector is high. He said that CIP Samman wanted to address something.
Minister Bhandari stressed that since Nepal will go to LDC graduation in 2026, the government and the private sector should work together to develop a strategy. Commerce and Supply Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire said that the development of the entire country is impossible without the development of the private sector. According to Sharad Vikram Rana, executive director of the Trade and Export Promotion Center, the morale of the private sector has increased with the CIP award.
Nepal's exports can reach 10 billion annually, said Dhakal, the president of the Federation of Nepalese Industries and Commerce. "Looking at the export potential of Nepal, it can reach about 10 billion annually. "Foreign investment, which is only 0.2 percent of the gross domestic product, can be increased to 10 percent in a few years," he said. He said that business people are encouraged to do business when an important business person is honored with the CIP award. He said that according to international practice, the government and society attach great importance to the people who are honored in this way.
