Jituji's urea started coming in from Birganj

Urea fertilizer of agricultural material company purchased through Government-Government (JTUG) process has started entering Nepal. Government of Nepal has bought this fertilizer directly from the Government of India and not through the tender process.

The first rack of this consignment carrying 2,500 tons of fertilizer from the Kolkata port arrived at Raxaul railway station in the neighboring Indian city of Birganj on Tuesday.

The head of the Birgunj  Regional Office, Durga Prasad Pandey, said that since Wednesday, the goods have been transported by truck and brought into the warehouse of the company's regional office in Birgunj. "At least 25 truckloads of urea fertilizer have been stored in our godown by 3 pm on Wednesday," he said.

The Government of India awarded the fertilizer supply contract for this consignment to Aditya Birla, an international fertilizer supplier company. He has brought fertilizer from a third country. The Nepal government has brought this fertilizer targeting the current dry paddy crop season.

Out of 30,000 tons of urea of JTUZ, Madhesh regional office will get 11,500 tons, Bhairawa regional office will get 10,000 tons and Biratnagar regional office will get 8,500 tons of fertilizer. Pandey claims that this year the office will not have any problem in the internal management of manure as the fertilizer has started entering in the main planting season.

Since the first week of July, DAP fertilizer is also likely to be imported under another consignment of which Aditya Birla Company is the importer, he said.
