Five young students from Nepal have participated in the 'Australian Economics Olympiad-2025' held in Australia.
The event, organized by the University of New South Wales, was held in Sydney from July 2 to 7. The jury liked the case study on the enhancement of self-reliance in the agricultural policy of the Nepalese government presented by the Nepalese students.
Five students were selected from Nepal Economics Olympiad (NEO) for this conference. The team was led by Arjun Sapkota, president of NEO. Raghuveer Shrestha and Janvi Lamichhane from St. Xavier's College, Kathmandu, Subham Bajgai from Premier International School, Lalitpur, Vinayak Shrestha from Hetaunda and Nitika Awasthi from SPA College, Dhangadhi participated in the team. At the
conference, Nepali students presented a study on 'Increasing self-reliance in the agricultural policy of the Nepalese government' under policy analysis. The study made suggestions such as solving farmers' problems, making it easier to get loans and maintaining transparency in subsidies. The jury appreciated it. Professor Gigi Foster of the University of New South Wales responded that the Nepali team's in-depth analysis and practical suggestions were very good.
Nepal Economics Olympia has been organizing Economics Olympiad among secondary school students in Nepal since 2019.
