Investment gathered in Kalika Kaligandaki

Investments have been made in 47.7 MW Kalika Kaligandaki hydropower project promoted by Maulakalika Hydropower Company. Prabhu Bank, Lakshmi Sunrise Bank, Sangrila Development Bank, Hydro Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company will invest under the leadership of Krishi Bikas Bank and the co-leadership of Citizens Bank.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 10.15 billion rupees. Banks will invest 75 percent of that, i.e. 7.6 billion rupees. The remaining 25 percent will be done by the promoters. The project is expected to be completed by 2084. According to the company, a dam will be built on the Kaligandaki river that flows between Tanahun and Nawalpur and a power plant will be built right below it. The company said it will use 300.22 cubic meters of water per second and generate electricity by dropping water from a height of 19.74 meters. The electricity produced by the

project will be connected to the 220/132 KV New Bharatpur substation of Nepal Electricity Authority at Anptari in Bharatpur. According to Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, Moulakalika Hydropower Company has helped to fulfill the government's goals by investing in the energy sector. "In the energy roadmap, the target is to produce 28,500 megawatts by 2035," he said. "Many challenges and problems may arise while working in a new model, you should have studied it," he said, "complete the construction of the project on time."

Dhital said that big projects in Nepal cannot be completed on time and take years. He also claims to stabilize the instruments of regulation so that the promoters do not have doubts. He said that the commission is studying the tariff rate of pump storage and will also discuss with the promoters. Krishna Prasad Subedi, president of the company, said that this is not only an energy project but also tourism, agriculture and physical infrastructure development.
