Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has said that the government's goal is to achieve 100 percent electricity access across the country within the next two years.

Answering the questions raised on the appropriation bill in the meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, Minister Khadka informed that after two years the programs have been advanced with the goal of reaching 1,500 units of electricity per capita per year.

He expressed his belief that if this goal is achieved, the country will be established as an energy exporting country and 88 billion 86 million rupees will be collected in revenue. He claimed that 865 thousand 188 people will get direct employment during the construction of electricity infrastructure and projects.

He said, 'Electricity access is being worked on with a goal of reaching 100 percent within the next two years. The target of annual per capita electricity consumption reaching 1,500 units will be achieved within ten years. This will establish the country as an energy exporting country. As this goal is achieved, 88 billion 86 crores of revenue will be collected. The total estimated job creation will be 865 thousand 188 people directly. It will also create lakhs of jobs indirectly. The government is moving forward to implement this goal.'

Minister Khadka informed that the government has set a target of producing 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035 and the programs are being carried out accordingly.
